Coastal Wetland Restoration

Mangrove - One of the most productive & sustainable ecosystem on the planet

The destruction of coastal wetlands caused by agricultural practices, urban development, and natural disasters has resulted in a significant decline in their health. However, restoring mangrove forests, salt marshes, and seagrass beds to their former state not only revives their health, but also allows them to continue sequestering carbon.

​Coastal wetlands, including salt marshes, mangroves, and seagrasses, are highly effective at sequestrating carbon over the long-term, up to five times more so than tropical forests, and storing vast amounts in their deep, wetland soils. This greenhouse gas mitigation potential is significant, especially considering the relatively small area these ecosystems occupy. Furthermore, these coastal wetlands provide additional, invaluable ecosystem services. Unlike terrestrial ecosystems, these carbon stores are not easily saturated.

Mangrove Restoration Projects

ReGro is taking an active role in the restoration of the mangrove ecosystem by planting seedlings in the coastal area. We are also working with local communities to ensure that the mangrove forests are managed sustainably, so that their benefits can be enjoyed for generations to come.

 

ReGro is committed to educating the local community about the importance of mangroves, as well as the importance of sustainable management of the coastal environment. To this end, we are conducting workshops, seminars, and other outreach activities to raise awareness about the importance of coastal wetlands and the threats they face.

 

We believe the mangrove forestry project is a great step forward in our commitment to environmental sustainability and biodiversity conservation. We are excited to be able to take an active role in the restoration of these valuable coastal wetlands and look forward to seeing the positive effect our efforts will have on this unique ecosystem.
